Linda Ruth Cutts, at the San Francisco Zen Center since 1971 and ordained as a priest in 1975, served as the center’s Abbess from 2000 to 2007. She has lived at the center’s three sites: Tassajara; the San Francisco City Center; and Green Gulch Farm, a Zen meditation center and organic farm in Marin County, where she has resided since 1993 and is currently the Abiding Abbess. A Senior Dharma Teacher, Linda continues to teach and lead meditation retreats at Tassajara, Green Gulch, and elsewhere, and is a member of the Zen Center’s Environmental Committee as well as a Steering Committee member of California Interfaith Power and Light, a multi-faith organization which seeks to activate California’s 50 000 congregations to help address climate change.
